Reid-isms

We are enjoying Reid's new found language skills immensely.  He waits for his daddy to get home every day and, within minutes, bounds to our room and jumps on the bed and hollers, "Daddy, up on the bed!" because he knows that is where the best wrestling matches are held.

I've had my first, "I don't eat; mommy it is yucky" meal, as well as plenty of requests for his favorite foods, which right now consist of fruit snacks, oranges, apples, mac & cheese, and "chocolate milk with bunnies" (the nesquik bunny is on the powdered chocolate milk container - although it took us a little while to figure out what he was saying and then what it meant when he first started asking for chocolate milk with bunnies!). Today he was noticing that the bunny was drinking his milk with a straw, so then he insisted on a straw instead of his normal sippy cup for his chocolate milk.

He listens to everything we say and picks up on the words or phrases buried inside a statement.  Frank was going to "swing by someone's house" and Reid came running into the room, wanting to go swing at the park.  He also freaked out when I was telling Frank that he had a "monster dirty diaper" that day.  He came in and insisted that there was no monster in his diaper, and even made mommy check his back for monsters!   However, he does now kill all the monsters on the couch so it is safe for mommy, so I guess that is a good thing!

But, his newest phobia of birds is because of my words at our mailbox. He was helping me get the mail, and spilled his cup with some Kix cereal in it. A few pieces fell on the ground and landed in the snow. He tried to pick them up out of the snow, but I told him to not worry about it, that the birdies would come and eat it. The rest of the night he clung to his cup and remaining Kix, insisting that the birdies would not eat his Kix, that they were "Reid's Kix". No matter how much I tried to convince him that they only would eat the ones outside, he was protecting that cup. I made him leave it in the car when we went in the store, and he was so worried that the birdies would eat it. I assured him that I would lock the door and no birdies would get in and eat his Kix, and that seemed to satisfy him, as he then repeated, "Mommy lock the door and birdies don't eat Reid's Kix." He continues to talk about birdies and them not eating his cereal, even now, a week later.

Still Pregnant?

Yes, still pregnant!  39 weeks and counting...

Reid walks around the house with his hands on his hips or back and says, "Mommy, my tummy hurts, baby Chase is kicking."  I guess I've used that line a few too many times!
